Welcome to Redpoint – we hope you have a great time climbing with us and enjoy our amazing facilities!
There is no need to book a session. So long as we’re open, you can come and climb – and keep climbing for as long as you wish! But if it’s your first time, you may want to look at a taster session here.
You’re welcome to climb with us whether you’re new to climbing or experienced. Experienced climbers who can tie in, put on a harness and belay can sign up and use any of our facilities. You can also sign up to boulder only, or to boulder and use the Auto-Belays if you can put on a harness correctly but do not know how to tie in or belay.
Before you climb with us, you’ll need to register! You can do this in the centre, but to speed things along – start the process now and pre-register here.
Unlimited: stay as long as we're open!
All abilities
If you are new to climbing, then welcome! You’re more than fine to just rock up and speak to a receptionist and we’ll get you bouldering (climbing without ropes), however, if you’re keen to learn some of the basics, we’d recommend a taster session.
If you’ve not rope climbed before you can either do a Beginners Course or have a friend supervise you. Registered competent climbers can supervise up to two novices of any age in the centre.
What to expect:
When you arrive you’ll be greeted at our front desk by our friendly team. We can give you a quick verbal tour of the building so you know where things are and we can tell you some quick tips to get you started.
You’ll want to wear athletic clothes that you can move around in, think yoga class or running gear. It’s a good idea to bring a water bottle too, although we do have drinks and snacks in our café!
The Basics of Indoor Climbing:
Pick a route (they’re denoted by being holds of the same colour). Start at the bottom and make your way to the top.
To Start a Climb:
Start with your hands on the tagged holds and/or any other lower holds.
To Finish a Climb:
Match your hands on the top hold (in control). For boulders, downclimb using any colour hold until you’re back on the mats. For rope climbing, get lowered down by your belay partner.
Grades/Colours:
Lower number = easier. Higher number = harder. Check the tags at the bottom of the route. We usually set from around V0 all the way to V10 for boulders and 3+ to 8a for rope climbs. All our climbs have a Griptonite tag on them as well. You can scan this and log the climb!
Basic Safety Things To Note:
Redpoint Bristol is a mixed climbing centre with lead climbing walls, top rope areas, auto-belays, and boulders. Our climbing walls are split across several rooms and floors of an old cinema! We also have a specially designed bouldering zone for little ones, a lower, less intimidating room for rope climbing, and our massive steep comp lead wall and impressive stalactite feature in the heart of the centre. To cater for boulderers and those keen to train, we have four separate bouldering rooms, ranging from comp style problems to slabs and a deep, steep cave – as well as a digital 45-degree training board, circuit boards and a stretching/gym area. We also house a different type of climbing adventure in the building with Crazy Climb Bristol! This is an adventure activity room full of climbing and obstacle challenges.
You can supervise your own children from whatever age you feel they are ready. Climbing walls are not safe environments for children to run free. We have high standards of supervision in our centres. Please remember it may not be possible for you to both climb for yourself AND supervise a child at the same time. This is particularly true of small children or when you are supervising two children. Want us to supervise them instead? Check out our Kids sessions.
An adult who has registered at our centre will normally be allowed to supervise two children.
The supervising adult must take full responsibility for the safety of the participants and complete the relevant paperwork.
Competent climbers aged 12+ are welcome to climb independently at Redpoint, provided they have completed a belay sign off. These can be booked bespoke with our reception team. Independent climbing for all ages is at the duty managers discretion and can be revoked at any time.
We allow experienced teenagers to register to boulder unsupervised, but they must get a parent to complete an enhanced parental consent form on top of their standard registration form.
Competent boulderers aged 16+ are welcome to climb independently at Redpoint, provided they fill out the relevant registration forms. Independent climbing for all ages is at the duty managers discretion and can be revoked at any time.
If you are 14 or 15 your parent will need to visit the centre in order to complete the forms with you.

No matter what your experience, you will be asked to watch a short video induction, read our conditions of use and fill out a registration form. The staff will ask you a couple of questions to ensure you have understood the induction and then you will be free to use the centre.
PRE-REGISTER HERE or do it on one of our tablets at the gym.
