Rock Monkey Academy

£75 per month

In our Academy sessions we move away from the safety skills, as these should already be established, and focus on NICAS level 5; movement coaching, strength and conditioning and the mindset and tactics of climbing at your limit. We also encourage our academy to attend another instructed session or climb independently once a week.

Academy is structured to progress young climbers ability across the board; from technical skills, strength and conditioning through to mindset and confidence both on and off the wall. Our young people are encouraged and coached to reach their potential and enjoy the journey.

These sessions are a progression from Rock Monkeys, with basic safety abilities already learnt, NICAS level 4 complete and climbers signed off for lead climbing.

  • Team player
  • Good climbers who want to improve

Climbers who fit our checklist are regularly spoken to by our instructors and coaching team. If you’d like to get involved, speak to your instructor about how you can progress or get in touch.

If you currently don’t attend Redpoint instructed sessions, we would welcome you to contact our Chief Instructor ([email protected]) to discuss joining our Academy.

Ben is always keen to hear from driven young climbers who want to get involved.

We appreciate that everybody is individual and has different needs and requirements. To participate fully in a rock monkeys or little monkeys sessions you child needs to:

  • Be able to listen and follow safety instructions
  • Participate in social games, activities and warm ups which have a climbing focus
  • Maintain a safe level of behaviour appropriate to a climbing centre (not a playground) and their age
  • Stay with their instructor at all times

Climbing is an incredibly inclusive sport when managed effectively, however our Kids Clubs sessions may not be suitable for all climbers.  If you think your child would struggle to participate fully, please get in contact to discuss individual requirements.

If your child’s behaviour is consistently unsafe for themselves and others, we will work with you and your child, attempting to find a resolution. We reserve the right to cancel their club membership and suggest alternative sessions.
