I’ve never been climbing before, can I just rock up and go climbing?

If you’re over 18, you can register at reception and go bouldering (low level climbing without ropes) without the need for supervision. If you’ve never climbed before and you would like to go roped climbing, you will need to be supervised by a belay member (see below), or book onto one of our adult lessons or courses.

How much does it cost to come climbing?

Please see our ‘Prices’ page for more info.

3

What is peak/off-peak?

Off-peak is before 4pm on weekdays. Peak is evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

4

What does being a ‘belay member’ or ‘competent climber’ mean?

You must be a registered competent roped climber in order to be a belay member with us here. This means you can put on a harness, tie in using an appropriate knot and belay, without any assistance. If you are not 100% happy with these skills, you will be registered as a boulder only member.

5

Can I take my novice friends on the ropes?

If you are a belay member, you can supervise up to two novices at once. Everyone will need to be registered with us and complete supervision forms at reception. You must tail the dead rope whenever teaching belaying to boulder only members.

6

Can I bring an under 18 year old to climb at your centre?

If you a belay member, you can supervise children of any age after you have completed the relevant forms. If you are a boulder only member, you cannot supervise children here, even if just bouldering. As a belay member you can supervise a maximum of two novices or children at once. You will need to have gained permission from their parents, although we do not need to see written proof of this.

7

Can I hire climbing equipment?

Absolutely, we have a range of adult (including extended size and full body) and child harnesses, shoes and belay devices to hire. Please note, we cannot hire out climbing ropes.

8

Do you sell climbing equipment?

We stock a variety of chalk bags, chalk balls, brushes and other climbing accessories, but we do not have any harnesses, shoes or ropes for sale.

9

How old does my child have to be to come to your climbing sessions?

We instruct from age 4 upwards. 4-7 year old’s can attend public Little Monkey sessions or private sessions. 7-17 year olds can attend Rock Monkey classes, and we have a specialised session for 13-17 year olds called Redpoint Youth. Please see the ‘Kids’ tab on our website for more information or to book online.

10

What is your cancellation policy for sessions?

For individual sessions, please provide us with at least 72 hours notice before your session is due to start and we can provide you with a full refund for any cancellations or amendments. If you provide us with 72-48 hours notice, we can offer a partial refund. Unfortunately we cannot offer any refund for anything less than 48 hours notice. For term kids clubs and party bookings, we require 1 week's notice for cancellations.

11

Do you have lockers?

We have a collection of lockers here available to be used by the public. You can bring your own padlock or buy one at the desk to keep your things safe.

12

Do you have parking?

We have around 15 spaces along either side of the center. If these are full, there is often lots of on-street parking on Luckwell Road. We also have a number of bike racks for you to lock your bike up.

13

Can I shadow sessions at your center?

Yes, we offer a shadowing program for instructors in training. We will need to see a photo ID and proof of training (screenshot of Mountain Training CMS is fine). You will need to complete a shadowing induction with a Duty Manager before you can book shadowing with us - these usually take around 30 minutes and can happen during off-peak times. Please email us a few dates and times that suit you and we’ll get you all booked in.

Can I bring external groups and instruct them myself at your center?
