What is Sufferfest?

In teams of two, you’ll have 8 hours to climb as much as you can! We’ll apply a grade multiplier to encourage you not to lap the easiest thing in the centre all day long, but that doesn’t mean you have to climb 8a to win – you just have to climb a lot!

We’ll have a fresh comp wall the week before and many other areas being recently set. We’re adding a few new king lines and five big boulders fresh for the comp.

Top rope/Lead/Auto Belays are all in (plus the 5 marked out boulders).

Rules:

• To count a route it must be climbed cleanly without weighting the rope. Onsight/Flash/Redpoints are all worth the same points, all that matters is you climb the route cleanly and don’t sit on the rope.
• All climbers must be registered to rope climb at Redpoint Bristol.
• Use one scorecard between two in your teams (must be submitted through a Google form, but we’ll have paper ones for you to tally).
• Safe climbing and belaying practices at all times!

This is an open competition, so gender and age are irrelevant. Buddy up with a friend and get climbing. The only caveat is you must be registered to rope climb with us.

Prizes and more:

Ropes, chalk, head torches and more are being supplied by our friends at Dick’s Climbing and Taunton Leisure. Prizes for the overall highest-scoring team, best dressed and more!

Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue will also be with us for the day, doing demos and giving a talk on the great work they do. A portion of all enties will go towards ASSAR, they’ll also be collecting donations on the day.

Thirst will be quenched by the wonderful folk at Liquid Death! (please note, you cannot drink alcohol and climb, so let’s stick to the Liquid death and other soft drinks until 19:00!)
